My Skills

I have developed a wide range of skills over the years. I have worked many types of jobs and volunteered to acquire my current experience.  Volunteering at the Virgina Living Museum has made the most impact on me, not only in my professional life but also in my personal life. It showed me the career path I wanted to take, and what I might expect in my future. As a volunteer I helped the keepers make diets for animals and clean enclosures, and that gave me some real hands-on experience. I had to work in all kinds of weather, and I found that I actually enjoy working outside and always having something to do. 

Communication

Communication became essential for me for my job and education. I work with a wide variety of people and have to be able to communicate with and be understandable to them. I hope to use this in my future career as I learn to network better. This will help me build my career and potentially work in new places more effectively.

Leadership

I have worked as a keyholder about three years and have a lot of experience being a leader when necessary. I have often helped my fellow co-workers when they don't know how to handle a situation or have questions. I am also comfortable giving instructions, as it is part of my job to be in charge when managers aren't available. This will make it easier moving forward in my career. I could get promoted as I have experience being a leader for others. 

Animal Husbandry

I have various types of experience working with animals. I work in pet nutrition currently, as well as horse and dog training. I want to use this experience to work with animals in the future. My current goal would be to have a career at a zoo or animal sanctuary. My current knowledge would give me a vast amount of knowledge in how to handle and care for animals in the future.

Professional

I have worked and volunteered in professional settings for over five years. I have found that being respectful, kind, and speaking appropriately is the best way to work with others. This will allow me to continue to learn in professional settings and work cordially with others. I want to make my future career as comfortable for me and others as I can.
